Health Promotion for Knowledge and Control- myassignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about theHealth Promotion for Knowledge and Control. Answer: The discussion post is successful in highlighting the implications of health promotion program for the attainment of health and wellbeing. I agree with the opinion that the empowerment model of health is praiseworthy in enabling better health outcomes for the population. Community participation is a chief element of empowerment model of health, and health promotion models are to encourage community ownership at all levels. In this regard, I would like to highlight that a rich pool of literature discusses empowerment in relation to freedom, autonomy, self-confidence, self-esteem, knowledge and control over health or life. Empowerment is to be perceived as the complex goal that encompasses aspects of the core healthcare concepts, namely, health, welfare and quality of life. It is also a legitimate goal for the promotion of health through distinct programs (Cyril, Smith and Renzaho 2015). However, empowerment is not to be perceived as only a mere goal. Rather, it is a significant approach or process. It is the basic way in which the participants are involved in formulation of health problems, decision making process, action implementation and continuous review (McKenzie, Neiger and Thackeray 2016). The post also mentions that the government officials must enable a top-down approach for alienating the community from the onset. In here I would like to mention that community-based approaches must rest upon c ollaboration between the government and the public wherein the key input of the community members must form the basis for health research. The approach entails a long-term partnership with the emphasis on a local health issue. This would involve shared decision making, capacity building, mutual ownership of research findings, and dissemination of results. References Cyril, S., Smith, B.J. and Renzaho, A.M., 2015.
